I hope you have a LONG time to hear a LONG story! Seriously...its just too much to document in an e-mail or type in an IM Anyone want to have some beers!? Here is what I posted to our officer's and Members today (the rest I can explain some other time if you have interest): ---- Original Message -------- To whom it may concern: It greatly upsets me to have to make this announcement, but effective immediately I will be stepping down in my roles and obligations to the DMA as an officer and technical lead (website). Recent events have taken place that I (personally) felt were created and carried out without the best interest of the club in mind. When I asked for the FACTS used to make these decisions/actions, I was not provided any proof (at all). This later lead me to believe that the basis on these decisions themselves were NOT in the MEMBER'S best interest, but were based on the self interest of parties involved. Repeated attempts to ask for clarification on facts used to make the decision resulted in scathing accusations that I (Kevin Abato) "own the club", wish to "take it over completely", am childish, selfish, and "want only for myself" (A viewpoint that I am sure many of you can attest to based on my level of participation in the club to make it better/larger for all of us in the past 4 years) While it is true that (on paper) I handle many of the club's assets and services (treasury, website, etc). This has been the case for some time now. *IF* I had any such reason to take over and proclaim my absolute power over the club I could have done it long ago. I have no reason or interest to do so. If anything at all I have pushed to grow this club larger, invite more people, and have them participate as well. The club is about ALL OF US. I have outlined a plan to the DMA officers to conclude my divestment from the club assets and services under my management which will be carried out shortly. I feel that I bring a lot to this club, and was caught in a personal contradiction for the past few days in order to make this decision. My act of leaving office will more then likely have an effect on the club...possibly bad. So now I am in essence acting outside of the best interest of the members. I struggled with this decision for some time until I realized something. I have always put the club first, but this is really about me, and how I feel. I do not feel your best interests are in mind, or that decisions are being made ethically. I no longer feel that I should continue to participate in the club as an officer (but will continue to be a member and attend events). I see recent events as being biased, a conflict of interest, and not serving YOUR best interests. I am sorry to anyone who feels that I am wrong in taking this stance, and some have even said that by stepping down "said parties" will claim victory. I have personally put tremendous time and effort to transform and grow this club in the past 4 years to make it something great for all of us, and it upsets me to leave all of that (and the potential we still have) behind. Perhaps in the future I will run again for a club officer position, but in the meantime I will be happy to attend events as a member. Thank you all for your support, encouragement, help and everything else you have given me in the past years. Cheryl and I consider many of you to be close friends and even family. Thank you Kevin Abato Vin# 16680 _____ From: DMCForum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:DMCForum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Marc Levy Sent: Thursday, March 02, 2006 4:33 PM To: DMCForum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: [DMCForum] My Official Resignation as DMA Officer I dont think you want to know..... :( --- Dave Stragand <dave.stragand@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Hi Kevin, > > If you don't mind my asking, what happened? > > -Dave > __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
