Ryan, I know a fellow owner who had this happen right in front of me. What he did was to get a wire hanger and bend it using my car's open bonnet as a reference. He worked slowly by slipping the wire under the bonnet around where the fuel filler is. He managed to unlatch it in about 45 minutes by successfully grabbing the latch mech. Just be careful with the jagged and of the hanger, as you could rip into your rubber seal.
