I think a local owner had a similar problem and cleaned his switch really
good and that solved his problem. He said it was sticking and never would
adjust correctly but a good cleaning took care of it for his car.

those were my thoughts on it. Its only a $30 part so i'll be putting it on
my list. I've never replaced it in the 7 years i've had my car (7 years
already!!) and the P.O was a dumb ass....soooooo......

You're talking about the switch the
throttle hits when you let off the gas completely, right?
This shouldn't take much effort at all to push in. I believe even
slight pressure will activate it. I'm betting the parts of the lever
that pull it back (springs?) just aren't strong enough to activate the
gummed-up switch.

there. Sometimes it will go back down to 1000 or 900, but most of the time,
even after driving, it stays at 1500. When I push the micro-switch in it
goes down to 800 or 900. I've tried to adjust the pin so it hits it more
with no luck. When I press it with my finger I have to pretty kind of hard
in order for it to take effect.
