The point of arguing is not necesarily to change someone else's point of view, it's just fun. And it you do happen to convert someone else to your cause, well, all the better.

I'm going to come out of my lurking to say that I'm not unsubscribing
from the Forum. I use the DML as a way of learning, the DMCForum was
put here for everyone to just hang out.
I do find it funny that I have more evidence for a pet theory of mine,
that saying "Jesus" "Christ" or anything with those words in them is
almost guaranteed to start a debate and/or argument. But that's what
this forum is FOR - _expression_ of off-topic ideas. We can't have the
DML for on-topic stuff, the DMCForum for on-topic stuff, and have
about eighty splinter groups each devoted to 'offensive' topics.
I'd prefer it if people could just take the banned subjects off list,
and would refrain from deliberately posting inflammatory bullcrap. I
don't have a lot of faith in this, though.
Anyway, as much as I enjoy a good religion or political debate, I
don't have the patience or time to do it via an email-based system,
and I know that there are maybe two people here who might actually be
willing to consider another point of view as valid. We all know we're
not changing our viewpoints.
