Ok, I'm just playing a bit of "Devil's Advocate" here. But if SMART
cars were available here, would you really buy one?
Granted I know that times were different when gasoline prices were
much cheaper than they are now. But when vehicles like diesel powered
Daihatsu Charades, and 3-cylinder Geo Metros were available, no one
was, nor still is running out to buy these vehicles. They're available
right now if you really need the gas milage.

If we all can restore our DeLoreans to like-new condition, there is no
reason that any of us couldn't go out, and refurbish one of these cars
for ourselves.
I just want to see if the goals people have of getting an economical
car with remarkable gas milage are are really attainable, or if it's
just a convenience to not trade in an unpopular vehicle, because the
one that we *want* is, in fact, unattainable.
