No problem, but about as inaccurate as Simone's reply that you
paraphrased (nice!) in FBDO.
The 1973 Mercury Capri calipers are not correct for the DeLorean. I've
not seen one to be a Girling unit, and the castings are different
between non-Girling and Girling units. Also, the cross reference you
found was for a remanufactured set. The $325 ones you quoted from our
sire are new, OEM units. Also, can you get a remanufactured Girling
set from anyone other than an FSV?
Keep trying. Remember the rules - compare apples to apples. A true
cross-reference, in my mind, is one that is identical to the OEM part.
For example, the Bosch spark plug. DeLorean part number 102443 is
cross-referenced to the Bosch HR6DS.
You are correct that you won't find the Saab 900 brake master on our
site - we sell DeLorean parts. The Saab brake master is proportioned
internally 50/50, while the original DeLorean brake master made by
Girling (no longer available, but now reproduced by us and sold by the
FSV's) is proportioned at 62/38 in accordance with the unique weight
distribution of the DeLorean.
Keep trying. Remember the rules - compare apples to apples. A true
cross-reference, in my mind, is one that is identical to the OEM part.
For example, the Bosch spark plug. DeLorean part number 102443 is
cross-referenced to the Bosch HR6DS.
There is a point to all of this, and I'm glad that you're looking,
Dave. I actively look for things that we are not competitive on that
you may be able to buy identical items elsewhere. This helps because I
may not see everything.
I agree that "no business is - ever - going to always the cheapest",
but we strive to make sure that if it's something we have,
particularly something we have a lot of, or are buying a lot of, that
you can't get it anywhere else outside the industry for less. Keeping
the money inside the DeLorean community insures that the parts you'll
NEVER get outside the DeLorean community (like window switches, door
locks, steering racks, dashes, binnacles, etc) will be available.
