You would want to use the generator to charge the batteries that
drive the electrical motors.
That would make it a serial hybrid, something no automaker would dare
to make, as it would ruin the partnership with Big Oil.
Using a small engine to power batteries, which wil power electrical
motors would be a wonderful thing, especially if your power source
was diesel.
We can only hope some manufacturer decides to break the mold and just
make an OEM serial hybrid for purchase.
