"... but Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said the State Department was
'working very closely with the Department of Homeland Security to match up
what is available with what is needed.'"
You neglected to paste the rest of the quote, which would have been very
important so people know the White House is not just ignoring the offers of
other countries. This is a long article and I would encourage everyone to
take a minute and read the list of countries and what they are offering.
The fact that all of these other countries are offering assistance is
astounding and I am very pleased to see this. I am hoping that maybe things
will turn around and the US won't be hated as much as it has in the past.
But, had I only read your quote without doing a little search on my own, I
could have believed that the White House doesn't care. Doesn't that sound a
lot like what some people were screaming about Bush's lack of response to
the hurricane?
A very quick perusal of that article is actually very encouraging after
seeing the incredibly long list of other countries offering support and aid.
I find it disconcerting that all you could point out was how "the White
House has not accepted any offers..."
In my opinion, you took what is a very positive article that could give
people hope and used an edited excerpt to support your own unsubstantiated
claims.
