No we're not. That's where biodiesel comes in. Yes, it emits the same
(well, not quite) crap, but crucially it's crap tht was in the
atmosphere/soil the year before when the plants that made the oil in the
first place grew. ispo facto, no imbalance.
In fact, modern diesels have catalysts, so I can't help but wonder if
running biodiesel through a catalyst is effectively scrubbing the
environment?
There're easy to build designs out there for domestic boilers (for
example) that run on waste cooking oil
