I'm not denying the existence of free will. In fact I stated that
humans have a choice of pushing water uphill or going with the flow.
But we decieve ourselves if we think we have an ounce of influence
over God or His purposes. Oh sure, humans have a long and imfamous
history of gumming up the works. But in the end God's purposes will be
worked. The question is: will you speed the process up or delay it?
The falacy of human power has led to all sorts of tragically amusing
follies: stilt houses hanging off California hillsides, condo's
jutting into defiantly into the Atlantic Ocean, New Orleans praying
its sea levies hold, etc. etc. etc. Americans feast on hormone laced
McNuggets in ignorant bliss. They can't afford their bloated mortgages
now, much less save a penny for the future. And don't even think about
getting me started on the catastophy that is contemporary American
Public Education!
Yes, a long a storied history of humans thinking they have all the
power in the world. Rivers dam'ed until downwater land chokes in
salinity. An industrial agrarian system built on just 4 strands of
wheat that can't even reproduce themselves. Y'know, God looks pretty
good in comparison...
Would love to go on, but I've got a massive paper due tomorrow morning
(6:15 am class -- I never knew such things even existed!).
