B27 and B28 squirt oil on the lobes too (look at one).
"Soft" B27 camshaft rumor simply refuses to die. Volvo never said a
word about it (but they had plenty to say about too thick oil clogging
up the passages). Volvo mechanics will tell you it's a myth. Even
Brickboard and Swedishbricks BBS's talk about OIL PASSAGES, not
camshaft materials (common mod is to drill out the return passages,
even though that isn't where the problem lies).
Oil slipping past the timing chain tensioners is a far bigger threat, BTW.
I grow weary of arguing the point, and so will hereafter let you
continue this thread unimpeded. Besides, you're re-powering your own
cars, not mine -- whatever I have to say doesn't really matter anyway.
