VB does it for profit. I don't see how Tamir is
making money off of his site. He does not even sell
advertising space!
So, in comparing Tamir to Bob we can say BOTH made a
significant effort in collecting this footage,
digitizing it, and editing it... Where they diverge
is how they choose to distribute the material.
Tamir spends his own money (I assume) to host this
material on the Internet. Large downloads = high
bandwidth = more expensive hosting fees. Yet, he does
not charge anyone anything.
Bob buys some blank DVD-R's, copies the video, and
puts it in the mail. A process that costs about $2.
He is making a $8 per disk profit. (I am only talking
about his disk that contain footage that he does not
own)
Yes, I know about the time to blah blah blah.. But for
means of comparing Bob to Tamir, those things are
pretty much equal.
When you look at the DVD sales, along with VB's other
items (over priced items like Antennas, LED's, Radio
Harness), it sets a tone for the way the guy does
business. IMHO, the profit he demands for doing
minimal research in to sourcing parts is highway
robbery. It is not like the guy has a R&D facility
where he is inventing a new and better LED.
And, NO.. My motivation has nothing to do with
religion or Bob's views on social issues, because many
times I agree with him even though I find his
presentation of those opinions are somewhat insulting.
... Again, I am not finding fault with Bob the man..
Just some of the things he does.
