It sits in the end of the crankshaft. Nose of the pilot shaft rides in
it. A quick way to remove it is to inject a bunch of grease
into/behind that opening, place your alignment tool in it, then smack
the alignment tool with your hand. Should pop right out.
Your transmission is a straight drive, isn't it?
