Well, you are right about one thing, Farrar. I shouldn't have jumped
into the conversation. From what I could tell, you seemed to be
singling Josh out, to try and make fun of him. Such as the comments
that he was reminding you why you should never have kids, etc.
I have plenty of empathy for others (I'm just selective about how I
distribute it). In fact, your comments were what pissed me off, and
made me want to jump into the conversation to defend him. I remember
what it was like to join the DML, and take allot of shit from people
who thought that I was too young to own a DeLorean. So that triggered
that angry reaction out of me.
But you are right, it was not my place to jump into the conversation.
After all, if someone is going to pick on another person here, then
that person needs to learn to defend themselves, and fight their own
battles.
As for me only caring about anyone but myself, believe what you want.
But thank me for >NOT< sending you a condolence. I have had close
family members die, and all within a short time period as well. And I
know what it was like for me. But I honestly have no clue what these
losses are like for you, nor what they mean to you. I don't know what
you're going thru, because while grief is involved, the experience is
different for all of us. Perhaps you feel like you've lost a part of
yourself, because you'll never see that close person again. Maybe you
feel a sense of relief because a long period of suffering has finally
come to an end for that person you care about. Maybe you're torn,
because you feel a bit of guilt for some reason. You didn't visit them
enough, or perhaps it was someone that you were related to closely,
but you don't feel as saddened as you *think* you should be. I don't
know what things are like for you, nor will I pretend I do. The
experience is different for us all.
The only thing that I am going to share with you, is that I couldn't
stand it when people I knew were trying to go out of their way to show
empathy twards me, and my situation. Either they tried too hard, and
came off as being insincere. Or worse yet, they tried to fucking
one-up me, by trying to compare their own greif to mine, in an effort
to convince me that they had suffered greater than I have.
Now, if you venting some anger with you helps you to deal with this
situation, then go ahead. And if you want to continue making me a
target of your frustration, then go right ahead. It doesn't bother me
a bit. But, if you are trying to hurt me, if that is indeed your end
goal, then realize that you haven't. And it's not because I'm callous.
I'm just selective about what I let bother me.
Just as I don't show favor to anyone who walks by, I don't despise
just anyone either. If I just loved everyone, what value would that
place on my love? Same with my hatred and anger. Know that I simply
respect your existance.
And if none of this makes sense to you, come back and read it in six
months.
