Brandon, I am planning on setting up the equipment again
soon, but I have to clean the work bench off first. The
bench is about 6 meters long and no room for anything right
now. I just got the garage cleaned to the point that I fit
a 2nd DeLorean in there. I cant make schedules for doing
anything other than say that when I get the bench clean then
I will start tinkering again with glass. I have had about
20 private e-mails since I made the first ones successfully.
There is quite a demand for them. I was trying to organize
a waiting list and sell them at a reasonable price in the
order that people asked. But that list is so old that I am
thinking it would be better to put them on eBay as I make
them. That could be interesting. I'm still sitting on some
Inconel trailing arm pivot bolts, so I might start putting
those up too.
I like the idea that Martin spoke of for the type that has
flat & convex on the same piece of glass. If I end up
grinding & polishing my own lenses then I will make mirrors
that way too if I can reasonably do the process of putting
the mirror finish on the glass. For now I have no idea how
that is done. Can anyone say? If it isn't too hard then
that would inspire me to go on and purchase the
grinding/polishing equipment for convex shapes. Otherwise
there isn't much of a market for custom lenses.
Back to the convex/flat combo idea, I'm not sure I would
prefer that over having normal convex for both sides. I
really like the convex for the driver's side even tho it may
be a bit of a wide view for sitting so close to it. (They
intended that type for passenger sides.) If I made my own
convex shapes then I might like to try a slightly less
convex shape for the drivers side.
One opinion of mine is definite -- convex is the way to go.
I prefer it over flat even for the drivers side.
