I believe this is all wrong.

Eurpoean FM is the same spacing as US FM.  It's AM that's different.  Euro
AM is 8 kHz spaced and American is 10 kHz.

I know this because I have a European radio in my other car (Audi refuses
to sell the good Navigation system in the US, so you have to hack the Euro
system into a US car to get the good stuff) and I can listen to FM just
fine, but get only (theoretically) 10% of the AM stations.

Luckily, I never listen to the radio.
