The reason that engine is so amazing is because it's basically a
miniaturized 429/460. Would be amazing even if its fuel were metered
from a coffee can with holes poked in the bottom.
I am very please with the truck's performance. With those 2 humongous
throttle plates, it's breathing like a 4 barrel ("too much air",
anyone?). My complaint was never the way the thing drove. I just don't
like all the hassle to replace some simple ignition consumables.
And the PCV valve.
And the valve cover gasket.
And the water temperature sending unit.
But, as bad as that experience was, I now know one even worse:
watching an awful imported from Spain movie with my parents -- 2 hours
of absolute agony. I actually managed to sit through the stupid thing
with a forced smile on my face. The maddening thing is: there was a
perfectly good imported from Great Britain movie sitting unused in the
other room! Give me an EFI tuneup anyday...
