This I have to concur with 100%. Considering that I
don't even own one yet and people are still willing to
converse with me is a testament to the non-exclusivity
of the "DeLorean community". I've been obsessed with
the car for ten years and have been saving my pennies
as much as I can since I got a job. And the people
within the community are the only people who have said
"Go for it, man." Louie and I had lunch the last time
I was in Charlotte and he gave me a ride in his, not
because it was an ego-boost for him but because he's
just a nice guy. (Plus I'm sure he knew it would stoke
my fire a bit. Heh.) Similarly, I've "met" a few
people on this list I could consider calling my
friends, among them Lauren, Bill, Greg, Dick, and
Rich. The only thing tenuously holding the otherwise
disparate group of people is a love of a particular
automobile, and in some cases the man who created it.
We're all geeks in a manner of speaking, and we all
have the car in common, no matter what our background:
rich or poor, north or south, old or young. What's
more the collective reams of wisdom coming from the
experience of owners are available free of charge,
because a lot of people in the community like
proliferating knowledge and experience.
And I for one appreciate getting at least a modicum of
respect from the owners on this list, even though I'm
a "wannabe" with no DeLorean, no pedigree, and no
life. How many other places could I go to get that?
LOL
