Several explanations:
- Some wires are for automatic transmissions, unused in 5 speeds
- Some wires are for devices deleted from final production (like the
hot start relay)
- Some wires are the result of PO modifications

You should see the loose connections in my engine compartment: No
sensors in the internal water pipe, no CI, CIS, or Lambda, no
diagnostic plug, no thermal time switch, no vacuum cutoff solenoid,
etc etc etc. All I need is 12v to the choke -- that's it. Am only
leaving unused connections in place in case a future owner decides to
go back to K Jetronic.

I'm also missing the idle speed and Lambda ECU's -- more loose wires.
