[DMCForum] Re: Re: Carbureting DeLoreans

Uh oh, didn't realize Louie was lurking the Forum. Good thing I didn't
say anything controversial (he *WAS* trying to lose me).

I'm burning a Motorcraft 2150. Even though it's just a 2 barrel, it
does have a "high speed circuit" that acts just like secondaries on a
4 barrel. Dumps liquid fuel at WOT. The PRV does *NOT* like liquid fuel.
Bogs down terribly and shoots black smoke (thank goodness I don't have
catalytic converters). This circuit is triggered by an internal cam on
the throttle plate shaft, not vacuum drop. Until I disect the carb and
figure out some way to disable it, the only way to avoid activating
the high speed circuit is to discipline myself not open the throttle
plates all the way.

Which of course means I kept up with Louie at partial throttle...

I went with a 2150 spec'd for the German 2.8L V6 Ford was dropping
into Mustang II's. Shooting in the dark (know anyone else who's
carbureted their DeLorean I could ask?) that was all I knew to do.
Main jets are fine. I just need to figure out some way to disable the
secondaries.
