You'd use shoes if you had a 5 speed though. Trying to manipulate 
the hydraulic clutch with your toes can be painful. I made the 
mistake of moving the car once while barefoot in the summer. Toes 
were sore for 3 days afterwards. Not fun, but any automatic car is a 
different story. Barefoot is no problem.
