RE: [DMCForum] stainless cleaner

I am a bit rusty (no pun) from my material sciences but if I remember
correctly it is both a coating and a chemical process, or reaction.

The Chromium (Cr) reacts with Oxygen (O) to form Chromium Oxide, or CrO3.
You don't really wipe it all the way off, but if you run your hand over it
then you will see the white powdery stuff on your hand much like you will
see red or black stains if you touch rust.

Here is a fun thing I did, meaning annoying, when I stripped the paint off
my car.  I had the panels down to bare stainless and then used a blending
pad.  When I stopped, there was a fine powder everywhere and touching the
bare panel left a black mark from my hand.  I used lacquer thinner for the
final cleaning and it looked amazing, but still, if you touched the bare
stainless you would leave a black mark.  After they sat for a few days
everything was ok.

OK, Tim (just checking to see if I really have the attention of your
other personality), but that's just a coating not an actual chemical
process.  It just wipes right off unlike rust - right?............LP
