[DMCForum] Neverending Series 038 CPR Controversy (Walt Coe)

Louie Golden is running a Series 038 CPR as we speak -- with Frequency
Valve active, thank you very much. And I 100% guarantee he'd smoke you
at a stop light. (His fuel economy is among the best I've seen too --
EPA can kiss my butt).
According to Volvo factory literature, final Series 038 and 066
counter pressures are IDENTICAL (49-53 PSI). The only difference is
038 starts close to 0, and doesn't open all the way until 175 degrees
(066 starts approximately 1 PSI, and is fully open about 105
degrees). And of course "full load enrichment" -- VOLVO'S WORDS, NOT
MINE! -- is much simpler.
And here's a little something to chew on: EVERY SINGLE VOLVO PRV SINCE
1979 USED BOSCH PART NUMBER 0437502013 FUEL INJECTORS, WHETHER E OR F
SERIES (if the factory literature is to be believed). Series 013
injectors are also listed as "spare part" for all pre-1979 PRV's, E or
F series, surely with corresponding adjustment of the CO screw implied
(horrors!). I suspect original Series 005 injectors were out of
production by the 1983 manual print date.
It never ceases to amaze that you consider me this roving automotive
menace, YET I NEVER COMPLAIN THAT MY CAR WON'T START OR IDLE OR
WHATEVER. Door nearly took my finger off, but I accept full
responsibility for that (no one left in Ireland to sue). And before
you go lecturing me on automotive repair etiquette, I'VE NEVER ONCE
ADVISED ANYONE TO DISASSEMBLE THEIR WHOLE REAR END TO WORK ON THE BRAKES.
Can you spell "Urp"?
Some basic facts:
- DeLorean only LOOKS high tech
- F series is *NOT* original PRV design, and can be returned to its
European roots very simply (or any point in between)
- You, Martin, and CheckSix3 are the only people reading my posts
anyway. And that makes the least sense of all -- why click on
something that you know is going to make you mad even before you click
on it? My nic is clearly identified as the author. It's just like you
all are saying to yourselves "there's a sharp cactus. I recognize it
from past cacti. I know even before I pick it up that it will hurt."
THEN YOU PICK IT UP ANYWAY!
Close your eyes so you won't see this next bit of advice:
Typing in capital letters with lots of exclamation points does make a
person feel better...
