"Dwell Angle" -- the amount of time ignition is grounded before losing
it to build up HT charge. Called "angle" because it's measured in
degrees of distributor rotation. Too little dwell angle results in a
weak spark. Too great an angle can damage ignition components.
Dwell angle used to be adjusted by physically separating contact
points (opening or closing the gap between them). Breakerless
ignitions adjust themselves (ground is lost within the module).
BTW: I do prefer breakerless ignition over points. Coil packs suck,
however.
