That's precisely what happened -- voters (many of whom had voted no
problem in previous elections) suddenly found their names missing from
polling place registers. Katherine Harris disingenuously claimed that
they all should have verified their registrations before November 7
(let's be honest -- how many of us re-verify our registrations between
elections, especially if there's been no problem in the past). Note
also that requests to cast "affadavit ballots" (perfectly legal under
Florida law) were denied.
Florida 2000 was handled very badly.
