The money, if it went to the CoS, would be theft, and I would be first on
their heels to see them face the consequences. The money would be given to
the CoS to -distribute- to the victims/patients/clients/etc. -NOT- the
church itself. The 'church' in these cases is simply a volunteer group,
just like the Elks or Kiwanis, who do much better with the funds than the
government
Churches and synagogues have traditionally provided a wide array of
community health and welfare services as part of their sacred religious
missions. Members of their congregations and communities have supported them
by the countless hours of volunteer services and social action. No one is
-forcing- the non-religious to get their aid this way... it is simply an
-option-. I repeat, if some people do not want to go to a church,
synagogue, or mosque for help, then those people are still welcome to get
their aid from the government-run, almost completely Democrat-voting civil
servants who skim 80% of the money off of the top for administration.
Alternatives are good -- even if they were not proposed by Democrats! =)

Would you be OK with YOUR tax dollars going to the
Church of Scientology to rehabilitate alcoholics??
Knowing full well, they are "preaching" as part of the
treatment?
