The 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air had the mechanical fuel injection, as did the
Corvette. Most were swapped for carburetors by owners shortly thereafter,
who claimed the injection system was hard to set up keep working properly.
The original mechanical injection systems are now worth a small fortune.

Fuel injection was in use way before the 70's. I remember a 1960's
Vette had mechanical fuel injection, or was it a late 1950's Vette?
