Depends how much air is in the there ;) Actually, if the level of water is too low, the bleeder may never spit water. If the car is hot, the water will continue to boil off with the escape route until it cools or you close the bleeder. It will look like you are "letting air out" when you're really just letting vaporized water out. About the trapped air though, you should check it the next couple times you go out to make sure it's all out. Sometimes air lurks in the system for a little while depending on how&why the air got in there.
