Ah HA! This is what happened to my truck when an oxygen sensor went bad.
The light would come on for a day, off for a few days, on for a few
days, off for a day, and so forth, until it came on and stayed on
several weeks after the first "What the hell is this light on for"
incident. But since my truck was running fine and I could find nothing
wrong, I just let the light go, until I failed my inspection because of
the bad sensor. :P
