So let me get this straight: A high compression B28E produces 155 HP. But by merely transferring its distributor and fuel metering system to an otherwise stock low compression B28F you increased horsepower past that to 170? Why in the world did Volvo bother to use E series heads and cams throughout Europe in the first place? Why doesn't Houston sell ignition and fuel distributors as a kit you can bolt on in your own driveway rather than tearing engine down for major component swaps? (Has anyone ever determined exactly what is kept and what is replaced?) With all due respects, I sincerely doubt you're producing 170 HP from nothing more than richer fuel mixture and retarded spark alone. Volvo itself didn't reach that number until compression was raised to 10.5:1 and valves & cams were redesigned beyond even E series. But your horsepower surely is increased to some higher number. Of that I do not disagree. I've been preaching the Gospel of jetisoning all the crap Volvo bolted onto F series engine, while leaving remainder of block untouched, to deaf ears. Perhaps you're the Chosen One. Whatever Martin's actual HP number may be, listen to him if you won't listen to me...
