Mine long gone, but as I recall was a grid of some sort. PO had done some playing in the tank. For example, formed pickup hose replaced by two straight hoses and a plastic elbow. Return hose missing altogether -- return line just dumped straight down into general tank, not back into baffle. Rogue vendor (who I've had 100% satisfaction with BTW) does charge a little too much for his baffle, but price OK if you buy as part of a kit. Everything forward of my accumulator was rotten so I replaced.
