Cable operated brakes would never stop a car at 88 mph. Hydraulically operated brakes are infinitely superior to anything mechanical. All other car companies EXCEPT Ford recognized this early on and converted their primary braking systems. To best of my knowledge Ford was last to convert in late 1930's. Sometimes product development moves at glacial pace around Ford Motor Company. Cable operated hand brake works very well sitting still, however. Only weakness I see in DeLo design is rather small pad area. I was wrong to bristle so quickly rather than clarify first message better. Added fuel to fire rather than putting it out. Please accept apology.
