PS - with the vibration... Jack up that wheel, and rock it top to bottom. It should just move the very slightest amount in and out. -Dave -----Original Message----- From: cruznmd [mailto:racuti1@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, November 19, 2003 10:24 AM To: DMCForum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [DMCForum] Re: Lower ball joint replacement Hm. Ok. This is a little more involved than I thought. I ask because Dave noticed an odd pattern wear on the driver's front tire. Handling isn't that bad but could be better. The question is what's the cause? Worn tie rod ends? Worn steering rack? Worn ball joint? Occasional symptom is a vibration in the steering wheel, which sometimes occurs after a hard braking. I originally thought it was a caliper dragging but it has happened once or twice without braking at all. The odd thing is, the vibration starts, then it just fades away for no apparent reason and all is well. The odd wear pattern and the vibration seem to be limited to the driver's side. Is it permissible to replace only one or do they have to be done in pairs?
