Ok. Many of you wanted to know how the front-end welding is going, so here's the update: The car will be done when I get out of work. Total cost: $550.00. (including towing). I'll be able to drive it home. For Bill R: Yes, he used some tube steel in the reconstruction. Hope you're happy. ;-) Even though I forgot to tell him that the steering rack was sliding around, he figured that out for himself and realized something was missing so he secured it by welding a tab to hold it in place. He put a few pieces of box steel from a car frame across the "Y". He says this will shore up the control arm mounts. He said as he worked on it more and more, he became more confident that the repair would be a good one. He says he's in "overkill" mode now, just making sure that it's strong. He said it'll hold without a doubt, it just won't look factory, but it will be a lot neater than he thought it would. I told him I didn't give a d*$^ if it looked factory or not because it's under the car. So....if non-factory work makes you queasy, just don't look at it. Sigh...even us closet/wannabe historians gotta bend sometimes. Rich & #5335 Yahoo!
