It really wasn't that much grease at all. It would seem to be a much easier remedy to fill that area with grease and not have to worry about any liquid intrusion into the pump housing. But then again I haven't reassembled the tank yet and driven the car for numerous miles like everyone else. Pump raised an inch or two within boot. All you've got to to is keep that much water out. Will never happen if windshield plenum drains right into it. Need to divert water or seal top of pump boot.
