Right now, I'm having a similar problem with my car. As folks here will attest, I've been doing a lot of work on my engine but here's one thing I haven't gotten to yet that you haven't mentioned doing either: Try cleaning up the ignition distributor. If the timing advance weights get gooe'd up from sludgy lube over the years, the bob- weights won't advance the timing at the higher RPM's and you'll have a "power fall-off". One way you can check, is to put a timing light on the engine and rev it up to 2000 RPM's. The timing mark should move completely off the scale. Let us know how it turns out.
