Dick's right. The last "original Beetle" factory was in Puebla, Mexico. ATC did a story on it back in July. Here's a link to the archived audio of it. http://discover.npr.org/features/feature.jhtml?wfId=1322473 And congrats on the VW, Dick! Far more impressive than the Saturn I saw with 400,000 on it. :) Got any other long-lived vehicles? How about that 1968 Dodge Dart that Joe Mannix drove? (That's my OTHER dream car. I anticipate flames.) BTW, I've been hired to sing/act in a local production of "The Music Man" (barbershop quartet music, anyone?), so I won't make it to the SEDOC. But many of you weren't expecting me, anyway. Catch y'all some other time. But I will tell those of you who could stick around a little longer after the get-together: Jeff Beck is playing in Atlanta on the 23rd. Should be a good show. I was planning to go, so let me know how it goes. :) Regards, Farrar "Olin the Bass" Hudkins Dick Ryan wrote: > Close, bu no cigar. It went out of production in > Mexico.
