Devonshire -- Exeter. Home of the world's smallest bridge open to automobile traffic (am SO glad I left my Lincolns home on that trip). Also had prettiest woman in British Isles serving in this little pub out past the moors. Can still close my eyes and see her face... But I digress. Don't need to waste any more bandwidth, but we are definitely travelling 2 different worlds. Big blocks in a luxury application rarely hit 2000 rpm. Can pull some passing someone, but spend most of their time percolating slightly above idle (at 80 mph thank you very much). Can't see 8000 with a telescope. Mind you the racing boys do, but we're talking luxury ap. Don't really enjoy pulling rpm's in my DeLo. Start getting nervous close to 5000. Obviously acclimated to the luxury liners. Would stroke out at 8000. Louie G and I have two totally different driving styles. His shifts are WAY past mine. Re: buzzy little engines -- no one on this side of pond pulls anything regularly with less than 300 inches or so (and you're asking for trouble at that). Professionals are all above 400. Big difference between carrying passenger in your sports car and towing a camper, horses, etc. BTW: what do you have against cruise control? Can't wait to install on my DeLo. Finished de-emissioning and tuning latest Lincoln today (driveway FULL of vacuum crap) so cover never even came off DeLo. Will tinker with mixture screw tomorrow.
