Or copper, hard to tell what it may be. I made some great progress on my days off: http://tg2.vantagep.com/engine/heads.php?page=22 http://tg2.vantagep.com/engine/exhaust.php?page=30 Everything was going fine. I said a prayer over the engine and went to start the car. *click* Nothing. I tested voltages at the battery: a solid 12V. I tested voltages at the started. Everything was working. So, I disconnected the starter and tested it using jumper cables. It tested fine too. So, I tore into the solenoid and discovered the root of my problem. http://tg2.vantagep.com/solenoid.jpg The plunger plated was in such bad shape that it could not make a solid connection with the solenoid body, so the voltage supplied by the ballast resistor was going nowhere. Testing a solenoid the way the D manual suggests will not indicate this type of fault. After the mounds of cash I've spent on these past two projects I'd like to just fix this without buying a brand new $90 solenoid. Anyone had experience fixing this little item? Yahoo!
