Dave Swingle has one fellow hold torque while another wiggles retainer off with two screwdrivers inserted underneath. He uses torsion bar itself to refresh splines (taps retainer on while holding bar in his hand. NOTE: taps on ends of retainer, where mounting bolts go, not in center by splines).
