Not quite. The virus affects your ability to get to the Windows Upodate site, but you don't get the virus from there. It doesn't come in through email, either, but a method called an RPC connection. If you're connected to the internet and not patched and/or protected by your antivirus program, you can get infected. ----- Original Message ----- From: erikgeerdink To: DMCForum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, August 12, 2003 11:43 AM Subject: [DMCForum] New virus Anyone getting hit with the new virus thats out there? Its an internet virus. The company that I'm contracted out at right now got hit so hard that the entire company is down! Over 1400 users are twiddling their thumbs. I would recommend updating your virus engine, THEN updating your Windows operating system with their fix. If you update your windows first you'll get the virus (so they say) because the virus have been linked with the Microsoft Update site. Pretty nasty. Hmm, maybe thats why Dick Ryan is the only one posting....Mac user! Erik Yahoo!
