I had a metal donut, not a gasket. Reused no sweat. Be aware that hollowed out converter yields distinctively different exhaust tone. Is slightly louder of course, but also "lower" or "mellower". Kind of a muscle car wanna be. Makes it sound as if more horses back there than in fact are (don't let it goad a 302 at the stop light).
