I had a pan full of oil, but no matter how much I cranked the engine, oil wouldn't circulate. I had to put oil in the tops of the cylinders to lube it and that wasn't enough. The manual says to prime the pump if you remove it. I didn't remove it but it became air-bound anyway. I filled the filter totally full with oil and screwed it on. The oil ran down into the pump and suddenly I had great oil pressure. The engine spun faster, better compression, easy starting. That's about it. Yahoo!
