There always was oil in the pan. It also didn't squeak the entire time I had been cranking it. I kept putting 10w30 in before I bought the Marvel Mystery Oil. Whenever the gas would wash it away, I put more in. Some people kept telling me, I shouldn't have to prime the oil pump. Engine rotation alone should move the oil, so I didn't. The engine never was able to suck it up so I kept putting it in the top. Some folks told me that low oil pressure while cranking was normal and acceptable. At any rate, it's not for sale for one dollar, or 1,000 dollars.
