Nope -- that's the thermal time switch (for cold start valve). Temp gauge sender is at rear of passenger side of block. Is the only sender you can see with intake in place. Check your coolant temperature manually by feeling driver side formed hose. If hose is too hot to hold (yes, watch your fingers -- don't flame me), coolant temp is at least OK. I have never had an engine that runs as hot as the PRV (of course this is my first aluminum block). Has anyone ever tried running without the thermostat? Would almost imagine is superfluous. Mine opens within minutes.
