Hello!
First of all, Windows 98 will fix it... :)
if you try to manually play the file after windows loads, does it play all
the way through? how long is the file?
here's a suggestion- try playing the song on another computer at startup.
If it plays, the problem is bound to your computer alone. If not, it's the
file or a limitation in Windows. That will at least help you isolate the
problem.
If you like, you can email me the song and I'll try it on one of my
systems. I have T1 access so size matters not..

Subject: [DMCForum] Totally Off-Topic: Windows XP Help
Hey-lo everyone. I personally HATE windows XP, and therefore Bill
Gates too. Reason for this post: I have the Back To The Future Theme
as my Startup music (being a De Lorean nut,I couldn't resist)
however, it cuts off after only about 30 seconds. Knowing this
forum, SOMEBODY has to have a solution or have had the same problem.
Someone help! Thanks!
