Well my engine guy said that at Renault, they always set them to 90 ft-lbs with copper grease on the threads (this increases the "tightness" without extra loading on the threads. He also said when he's building an engine, he does it properly as per the manual, and if he strips any threads, he'll helicoil the block, which makes the threads stronger anyway.
