> my pressure switch does not leak. Do I have to get another one that leaks ? No. Just be patient and the one you have should start leaking soon. ;-) > Will aluminum do the trick? How thick was it? Aluminum is a very efficient conductor of heat. I think that the only metal that will rival it in its ability to absorb & re-radiate heat would be gold. I have seen an aluminum heat shield on a DeLorean before. It was stamped with a waffle pattern to help deflect the heat, but I don't think it was very effective because the pulley seal was about cooked. It wasn't very effective at resisting impacts either ;-) That is why it was replaced because the car got rear-ended. If you are going to use aluminum anyway, I recommend using at least two sheets separated by thin spacers. This is also an option with the heat shield sold by http://www.delorean-steel-products.com/ But they have found that this material is so effective that one sheet is plenty. This is a special alloy formulated to be very efficient at reflecting heat. You should buy it. ;-) (yeah, I'm friends with the guy who makes them) Now he sells stainless shifter knobs too.
