Ok guys, here's where I'm at now: The head is in place, but NOT torqued down yet. My torque wrench is the old style, a bar with another bar with a pointer and a scale on it. The scale does read metric and imperial so let's not start that again. :) Also the Book has both ft lbs and nm's to go by if I remember correctly. The rear fascia is off, the timing chain cover is off. So far, I've only removed one head for work. The passenger side. I want to put it back and time it before I remove the other head to ease my confusion with timing issues. Suffice it to say, I have disturbed the timing. Don't ask... Brother Maynard, consult the Book of DeLorean. Yes brother. Book of DeLorean, Section C: (Engine), Chapter 07: verses 10-11. "Valve timing LH side Turn crank clockwise so keyway lies on center line of LH bank of cylinders. (Fig 93) Fit chain to LH sprocket w/dual timing mark astride timing mark on sprocket. Fit chain to rear teeth on double sprocket w/single mark in line w/timing mark on front of double- sprocket. (Fig. 94)" Fine. Here's my question: When the book says LH/RH, it doesn't jive w/the picture. Fig 93 shows the timing mark lined up with (to me) would be the LH bank of cylinders. Fig 94 shows the RH side of the engine. I've been told some of the pictures in the book have been transposed. I also know this book is a plaguerized version of the Renault manual, which assumed the engine was mounted up front. It is the PASSENGER side of the car I am trying to time. At this point, I should torque down the head BEFORE beginning the timing operation, correct? I assume this is necessary to keep the liners from lifting. Yahoo!
