> What are the torque settings for the exhaust manifold? That's a damn good question Travis! When Adam and I put the manifolds on his car, I just went by the German word for good pussy -- gutentiet (Good'n-tight). The problems is -- even if we knew the torque spec for that, it would probably be a dry torque. And only a mechanic in a hurry for a quick profit would put new studs in dry. I wouldn't recommend that. We used copious amounts of high-temp copper anti-seize. But this reduces friction so well that if you went by the dry torque then you would have to decrease the amount by somewhere between 1/4 to 1/2. Since I didn't know what the proper torque was anyway, I threw caution to the wind and made them gutentiet -- basically going by feel to judge when they felt like they were getting tight enough such that any tighter might over-stress something. So far so good. If we hadn't been up all night making this car drivable so that Adam could get home, I would have put a torque wrench on there to see just how tight I might have made them.
